Commitment to Driving
Do not volunteer to drive if you are not committed to showing up on transport day. Relay transports cannot operate if there is a missing link in the chain and the rescue animals suffer as a result. If an emergency arises that prevents you from driving you must notify the transport coordinator as soon as possible. Please be respectful of the entire team that has been assembled.
Adoption Off Transport
Removing an animal from a transport before it has reached the final destination indicated on this run sheet constitutes theft in all 50 states and will be reported to local, state, or federal law enforcement agencies. In addition, your name will be publicized on “Do Not Transport” lists that are widely circulated in the rescue and transport communities.
Disclaimer
Any agreement to volunteer transport is your acknowledgement of the understanding that every dog or animal being transported reacts differently when being transported, and that animals, by nature are unpredictable. Agreement to transport is an agreement that you are aware of the associated risks that could be present in a transport. Dogs and animals in general may, without warning, bite or cause injury to humans, other dogs, other animals, or even potentially cause damage to personal property. Your agreement to be a volunteer transporter, is an acknowledgement and understanding that there are certain risks involved in participating in volunteer transport, including but not limited to dog fights, bites to humans or other dogs or animals, the transmission of disease, and damage or destruction of personal property. Note that all animals being transported are accompanied by a health certificate issued by a licensed veterinarian and accompanying vaccination record, and that this is the full extent that anyone can attest to health of transport animal(s).
By agreeing to transport and/or overnight an animal on a volunteer transport, you are agreeing that you recognize these risks of injury and disease and release the volunteer transport coordinator(s), sending or receiving individual(s), shelter(s) or rescue(s), and fellow volunteer transporter(s) from any liability for any accidents or incidents related to bites, injuries, property damage, or illness (human or animal), that may occur immediately before transport, during transport, during an overnight stay on a transport, or upon or following arrival of dog or animal being transported. Additionally, the transport coordinator volunteer is dependent upon information received from a sender, or shelter or rescue, and cannot be held liable or responsible in any way for any information conveyed about a dog that may be incorrect regarding behavior or temperament of a transported animal before, during, or after transport.
